Richard E. Ben Bates is a 11 year veteran of the Marengo County Sheriffs Department having served as Chief Deputy and now the Sheriff. He is a preacher and member of the Star AME Zion Church.
Sheriff Bates set up the D.A.R.E program in the 4 county schools, initiated the Junior Deputy Program for High School students and supports the local fire and rescue squads. Sheriff Ben Bates is a great asset to our community.
